Welcome to
SENSES Learning Hub
An Alternative Provision offering a safe space for young people to thrive through creativity and therapeutic approaches providing a bridge to support education for 11-16 year olds with anxiety and trauma related, social, emotional & mental health needs.

SENSES Learning Hub caters to secondary school aged students with SEMH needs, emphasising engagement through creative projects to reignite their interest in learning. Located within the grounds of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, our nurturing environment offers small groups and specialised facilities like sensory chill out zones and artist workshops. Collaborating with mainstream schools, home educated students, and local authorities, we provide support for learners to thrive and prepare for future challenges in education and the workplace.

SENSES Learning Hub, a Voluntary Ofsted-registered Childcare Provider with over 25 years of secondary education experience, supports schools, SENCos and Local Authorities in SEN, pastoral care, safeguarding and trauma-informed practices. Through collaboration, the hub addresses vulnerable learners’ needs by taking part in reviews, developing student profiles, offering insights into learning and wellbeing, and improving communication between home, school and the hub. With a holistic approach involving families, schools and external agencies, SENSES Learning Hub provides comprehensive support for students and their families.

SENSES Learning Hub offers a range of qualifications tailored to the needs of its students. These include vocational qualifications such as Discover Arts Award & Explore Arts Award, Functional Skills tutoring in English and Maths and GCSE Art and Photography. We also focus on personal, social and health learning.

At SENSES Learning Hub, we understand the unique needs of every child and offer a supportive environment drawing from our varied experiences. Our nurturing approach, in a relaxed studio setting, caters to young people who require specialised support. We provide diverse art based experiences, as well as tailored support in Maths and English within our SEN framework. Collaborating closely with local authorities and schools, we create bespoke packages for each child, particularly, but not limited to, those with EHCP plans.

At SENSES Learning Hub, we offer informal, as and when needed talking therapies tailored to each student’s emotional needs. For those with us longer term and in agreement with parents or carers, we also provide art therapy experiences. Our skilled team focuses on introducing therapeutic support, addressing gaps in specialist intervention and building trusting relationships in a safe, nurturing environment. With expertise in counselling children and adolescents, we promote mental wellbeing, creativity, and positive growth. Our holistic approach supports resilience, practical skills, communication, and organisation to enhance overall happiness and wellbeing.

Our alternative provision offers tailored support and flexible learning opportunities for students, including those on EOTAS packages and those who are Home Educated, through creative and therapeutic practices.

Educational excellence within an inspirational environment.
SENSES Learning Hub is a Creative Alternative Provision that provides a bridge to education for 11 to 16 year olds with social, emotional and/or mental health (SEMH) needs, who find mainstream provision challenging.
We provide a unique educational offer at our independent studio, within the grounds of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, that immerses the most vulnerable of young people in an inspiring, creative and uplifting environment.

Due to the nature of our unique environment & our years of experience in working with students with Individual Educational Needs, some of whom have EHCPs, we can support secondary SENCOs in providing specific and tailored interventions that are not always achievable in a mainstream setting. This allows students to make greater progress towards their outcomes and development.
