1. Referral & consultation

We discuss the young person's needs, current educational context, EHCP outcomes and desired outcomes with the commissioning school/Local Authority.

2. Bespoke placement planning

We identify an appropriate timetable, curriculum pathway, support strategies and initial outcomes.

3. Relationship & engagement

The young person builds relationships with a consistent team within a calm, low stimulus environment.

4. Personalised learning

English, Maths, Art & Design, creative projects, accreditation and therapeutic/relational support are combined according to individual need.

5. Monitoring & evidence

Progress, attendance, engagement, learning and EHCP outcomes are monitored.

6. Review & transition

SENSES works with the commissioning team to review progress and determine appropriate next steps.

Placement Structure

• SENSES provides commissioned Alternative Provision for young people aged 11–16.
• Placements are individually planned according to the young person's needs, commissioning arrangements and available capacity.
• Our standard placement is a minimum of 1 day per week for a period of 12 weeks.
• Placements may be increased where this is appropriate and agreed as part of an individual plan.
• SENSES currently provides a maximum of up to 18 hours of provision per week.
• A placement may include a combination of English, Maths, art/creative subjects, accredited learning, wellbeing and personalised project work.
• All placements are subject to an initial suitability assessment.
